The Problem

A client faced significant health and safety risks during the manual handling of heavy cash machines. The existing process required operators to use pry bars to manually roll ATMs onto standard pallet trucks. This method was physically demanding, unstable and presented a high risk of musculoskeletal injuries or equipment damage.

Concept & Planning

Nova Design proposed a bespoke, low-height pallet design integrated with a ball transfer unit (BTU) system. This concept focused on multi-directional movement, allowing operators to glide the ATM onto the platform with minimal physical exertion. By reducing the friction and entry height, the design aimed to streamline the loading sequence safely.

The Solution

Following conceptual approval, Nova Design produced a complete suite of final manufacturing drawings from the 3D CAD model of the pallet. This precision engineering allowed for the successful manufacture and commissioning of a prototype pallet truck that transformed a hazardous manual task into a controlled, ergonomic process.
