The Problem
A West Midlands foundry suffered intermittent production pauses caused by technical failures in their mechanical handling equipment. Specifically, the floor conveyor track was experiencing reliability issues that disrupted the casting process. Existing documentation was insufficient to diagnose the root cause or facilitate precise mechanical repairs.
Concept & Planning
Nova’s engineering team conducted an on-site technical audit and physical survey of the conveyor track to identify mechanical bottlenecks. The goal was to move beyond temporary fixes by analysing the equipment's current state and proposing a robust design modification that would ensure continuous, unscheduled-pause-free production.
The Solution
After agreeing on the technical proposal, Nova utilised Autodesk Inventor to develop a comprehensive 3D digital prototype. We then produced a full detailed manufacturing drawing package, providing the foundry with precise specifications for the upgraded components. This high-fidelity design approach ensured seamless fabrication and long-term mechanical reliability.
