NOVA Design recently supported a client during a plant upgrade project.
To increase capacity the client wanted to install an additional Press facility and rework the chain conveyors that feed the presses.
No drawings of the presses or the associated equipment existed.
NOVA used their FARO Focus 3D Laser Scanner to generate a 3D Point Cloud of the existing installation.
Once this was registered into Autodesk ReCap it was imported into the Autodesk Inventor Suite as an overlay and used to generate the 3D Plant Layout model. The client was then able to plan the new Press installation and modifications required to the existing equipment.
